Indications
GENERAL SONOLOGY
- Focused Assessment with Sonography for Trauma (FAST) scan to rule out internal bleed and visceral injuries ,assess hypotensive persons for occult bleeding.
- Extended FAST for pneumothrax/ pleural effusion.
- Torsion testes/ovaries.
- To rule out Pericardial /pleural effusions.
- Abdominal pain
renal stone, gall stones, gastric appendicular colic ..etc
OBSTETRIC EMERGENCY
- Bleeding PV
- to rule out Abruptio placenta
- Reduced Fetal movements
- To rule out Ectopic Pregnancy
- Oligohydraminos etc
- Scar thickness
- Cervical length
VASCULAR
- Peripheral arterial /venous Doppler to rule out thrombosis.
- IVC Evaluation In cases of hypotension or fluid overload.
OPTHALMIC
- Ultrasound can be used to detect retinal detachments, vitreous hemorrhage, dislocation of the lens.
PEDIATRIC EMERGENCY
- To rule out Intussusception.
- To rule out Acute Appendicitis.
- To rule out Freefluid in abdomen.
